Ok folks...are you heading up for some pre-steelhead action? Some post Salmon fishing? Well, our fearless crew member, Dallas, back from Poland, should be up in Baldwin as I type and will be floating the fly water thru the weekend, so if you see the Mothership...give a shout out...he's got some decals to give away. Our crew set out from all parts of S.E Michigan to the fabled cold water fishery of the Pere Marquette River for a 4 day get out of dodge trip.  Most of us gathered up on Thursday night (9/25/08) for some meet and greets, a few riverside beverages and an evening with old and new friends and some great Salmon fishing.  Many fish were caught...many more were lost and many more hours passed.  We got back to the hotel around 5:30 am for a quick attempt at sleep before Friday's float down the flywater. The water was low and the sun was going to be high on Saturday. Great float, slow fishing was to come.

Rolling out of the motel at around 10 we backed up and headed to the drop in at 37 and began to get our gear packed up for the float down the Gleason's.  We had a large crew with 6 or so pontoons and Dallas' Driftboat that he let us use while he was in Poland.  Ever tried getting 7 guys organized, car spotted, and on the river? It's a process and just the way it is! We met some great folks putting in at 37 while we got all of our stuff together.  The weather was hot, sunny no clouds so we all kind of knew the King fishing would be a challenge and we'd be fishing dark runs and against the banks.  We launched at 2:30 pm, which to most would be a crazy idea, but we figured we missed most of the other boats...which we did.  There was a crew of 3 in pontoons that put-in right before we did and we played hop-scotch with them all day, it was a great group, 2 guys and a girl. We didn't catch their names but they were friendly and didn't mind sharing the river with us.

• The big jem of the Fall Season will be a handmade Steelhead/Salmon fly rod from Rybak Rods. Ya, it's Dallas' company and we are pimp'n him out...everyone knows pimp'n ain't easy! I've just recieved my 7 piece 5 weight rod from him before he headed out to Poland. We've field tested this rod and a review will be coming soon. How to enter??? Just register with fishingporn.com.
