And heres a rod I just finished up about 10 mins ago.

This the the Saltwater series of Tiger eye which are a little faster than the standard series. Its a 9' 9wt 4pc. Seat is a real nice piece of wood I got from the Burl source called (and I know I'm gonna screw up the spelling) australian corogattu. And has Nickle silver hardware with a removable screw in fighting butt and custom cork full wells grip.

Wraps are red&black classic twist (discountinued) gudebrod, and has quad single turn Electra trim bands on both inner and outer of the wraps. Feather inlays for alighnment marks and dble foot guides finish it out.

Little more rod pornage. Finished this little whisp of a rod up the other day.

This rod will be going on a long voyage in the next couple days as its headed for a new home with a customer in Australia. He was wanting a very small full flex rod and this blank deffinetly fits the bill. The blank is a 7' 3wt 3pc Global Dorber blank and the only way I can describe this little blank is that it feels very much like my Leonard 39 cane rod in action h34r: Any fish on this baby is gonna be a fight!

The insert is a heavily burled piece of Australian Corrugata mounted on some NS hardware, a grip with Copano cork turned down thinner than normal to match the small size of this rod. Light weight SF guides, inserted stripper, black wraps with red and metallic silver double trim bands finish this one up.

Its a Cobalt blue CTS "Affinity One" 904-4. Reel seat insert is a piece of Australian Corrugata with Nickle Silver hardware. Grip is a Rev Halfwells that I turned with Bamboo burl cork, Copano cork, Burnt cork & Rubberized cork. Silver single foot guides wrapped with Royal Blue thread (no CP) and metallic silver trim bands and finished off with Threadmaster finish.

Very nice Steelie! I built a rod once...(once!!) Never again!! That being said I wouldn't mind having you do one for me some day!! I could use a nice steelhead 7weight...maybe a 5 piece...cool...I'll start saving now, and maybe by next summer.
BYW I am impressed that you own a Leonard cane rod...I would love to hear how you acquired it? I actually have studied the history of this "lost art" and have the book by Everett Garrison and Hoagy Carmichael on Bamboo rod building. (Carmichael apparently inherited all of Garrison's stuff when he died...) I actually inherited a Goodwin Granger 8 and a half foot 8weight with extra 9 ft tip from my grandfather, and still have it in my possesion. Although barely fishable in its current condition ( it saw a lot of use as a bass and pike rod on the MIchigamee reservoir and surrounding waters...) it is a thing of beauty to look at. Of course compared to the lightweight products of today it's like chopping wood to use. Anyway thanks for the pics. You are an arteeeest!!

Bill..my Leonard is not an actual Leonard built rod. It's just a Leonard 39 taper. The blank was a hand split cane that my friend Robert Farrand of Birch run, Mi made for me.

The last true Leonard built rod I saw was on ebay about 2 years ago and if memory serves correct it sold for around $3,500 or more

Anytime ya are interested in a 7wt just let me know. My prices are alot lower than most guys would guess, and I always knock a bit more off for guys that are part of sites I'm on so I'll hook ya up when your ready
