Dude that is soo wrong hahaha! Showed my wife and she was across the room, thought it was a chic...then she saw it was a dude and was like...wrong...so wrong...
BTW I would say that's about as close as we've gotten to real porn...and that's even border line at best!

Hey folks, back from my short trip... OMG! got two mouth hookups in flies only no kill section in the first hour and a half of being on the river!! Played one fish for about 25 minutes before he finally got tired of me and did three of those head shake things and saved me the trouble of trying to figure out how I was gonna land him without my net...(another story...)
I also got 2 smallish browns in the 14 " range which was cool. Steeldrifter, you were spot on with the egg thing...brownies only took the egg. Salmon took black soneflies in 8 or 10. They stayed low too when hooked, no aerial maneuvers, but man what a rush!! Hooked them all in deeper pools behind the reds. There were three or four bucks duking it out making a real scene, and I was all by my lonesome on the flies only watching the show. I tied on an extra stonefly on the end of the egg (cheese btw, with a white center) and my first hook up was preceded by a huge wake...hit it like a freight train, but must not have popped him good cuz he shook off. then I started throwing over the top of the redd and letting the setup slide into the dark waters just downstream, and just at the end of the drift at 12 oclock, bamm, another one on. This time fought him for 25 minutes and although mouth hooked (obvious from the strike and the underwater movement coming through the rod...) he was not the freight train, but more like a bull dog, hanging close but biding his time. A couple of times I got him within arms reach, with the weight right up at muy tip and I could see that he had the stonefly...well, you guys already know what happened with that one. Thrid one was foul hooked ( one problem with dragging two flies through fairly shallow water), and you can really tell by the feel of it...I was able to finally get the hook out of him after a couple of minutes...thanks to god, but a couple of minutes was enough to foul up the hole so any other possible hits in there were pretty much history. Anyway, I got back to the motel (BBT) and had dinner took a shower and sat there vibrating from the couple of hours of fun I had just been blessed with. Got up at 6 and went right back, but this time no fish at all...there were several cars there and no one I talked to had any luck. Really the fish are not in in any good numbers yet though IMO, so you guys I think really timed it perfectly, and should absolutely kill em (figuratively speaking...heh...).
I got the two browns upstream from where the Baldwin River comes into the PM...nothin' like what you got though Scott, but still a lot of fun and those things hit like Mohammed ALi!! I think that one guy mustve packed more into his strike than a lot of Salmon...I had to use my pliers to get the freakin hook out of his lip!!
Postscript; I broke the tip on my spey rod while bushwhacking in Wallhalla...got snagged in an alderberry bush and reached up to unsnag it and it snapped like a dry piece kinling...right at the eye (actually in between the wraps!! WTF???!!!) There was something not right about it and I got into Lansing in time to run it up to the Orvis dealer. They warranty all their stuff so it should be a new tip for No Charge (my favorite type of charge!!...) The guy said that three people came in today with broken rods, so it must be a bad karma day for Orvis...Anyhoo, I gotza get to bed as I have to work tomorrow, so have to wrap it up here! I plan on going back up in October to the Betsie and Boardman, so I hope I get my rod back by then/hate to be without my spey rod! BTW that flies only section is perfect for that casting style as the water is fairly low and clear and wide enough to roll cast. I just had so much luck with the chuck and duck I didn't have much motivation to change!!
You guys are gonna have a blast!!
Cheers!
Bill
PS: I will open a photobucket account and will start taking some pics!!

Nice report...FYI...I've got our server setup to allow to upload photos so you don't need a photobucket account...we'll see how it goes and how much space we suck up with all the porn but feel free to post'em here...
Ya the browns are a day maker...no matter what the size...I am itching to head up and need to break out the vise to tie up some more flies! Have a couple of Greenhorns coming up so it should be a riot to just watch them fight a couple!
Thanks for posting the report! Sounds like you had a great time! you need to get a floatable so you can cover some water!
One of the members over at talkflyfishing.com described a good method to land a salmon by yourself...

Thanks for the link Scott...hey any suggestions on a floatable? I am definitely in the market! A guy passed me on one and it seems like the way to go for a guy like me on a budget. Then the next thing would be to book a float trip so I can see how it's supposed to be done!! (: Thanks for your advise, Bill

Bill-
The one I own this one.

It's the TU Colorado Pontoon. Ya you can spend a ton more, but I've been riding this for going on 4 years and LOVE IT...the customer service I have found is out of this world and I highly recommend them. They have a few models. The Rogue model is rated for class II rapids and also sits up higher out of the water. Really I love mine. I've also got about 4 or 5 guys I know that own one of these and haven't hear anything bad. I reviewed it on our site too... Click here to read it.
