This actully happened a week ago, but just getting around to posting here.

I actually meet Evan back in 1999 at a gym. I can tell you now he was an awesome person!

He lived life doing what he wanted. Never lived by the rules, always lived alone....just lived life on his own terms. As funny as it seems...I really felt a true loss when they said they found his body monday, and still feel a loss even today.

people think MMA fighters are stupid and just egomaniacs...

I dare them to watch this clip of Evan and say that again!

And anyone...whatch this clip and tell me you dont respect this man!

Total respect Evan R.I P 1971-2008
I miss you already brother!

Hey Drifter,
I wrote this nice little epitaph in a reply over the weekend and my 'puter went weird and I lost it.
Anyway I basically was saying how Evan sounds like he lived life on his own terms,(sorta like McCandless and others...)and what is important is that we are able to see life as a gift each day and to live it to the fullest. that is what I got out of reading "Into the Wild" and that is what I get out of reading about Evan. thoreau writes that the majority of people "live lives of quiet desperation". People like Evan are here to remind us that there is another path, and although it is not well worn or commonly taken, it will lead to it's own reward. I suppose this is at least in part why the whisper of the river draws me to the "troutlands" so much...maybe sometime soon we can get together and raise a beverage to the man, and more importantly, what he stands for...
