Anyone out there have any expierience with surf casting for salmon/ steelhead? What type of equipment is needed? Time of year? Any good resources for information?

Hey twitty, welcome to this site.
These are some great questions. I'd also like to know. I heard the lake browns have a run in november and the way to get 'em is to wade the surf (kinda backwards "surfin' the wave..." heh...
Unfortunately I haven't done this type of fishing yet so I am in the dark...

I know nothing about surf fishing in MI...I've tried in the ocean down in South Carolina with very small limited success...wait a few hours and Steeldrifter will be around I am sure...from the sounds of it on other sites, he's quite versed in surf fishing!
