Just a couple weeks away...
The second annual spey clave on the St. Joseph River will be held Saturday, May 17th. This is shaping up to be an outstanding event that is sure to be a great time for all who attend. It will be held in the small town of Berrien Springs, Michigan below Berrien Springs dam. The same location as last year directly below the dam on the west side of the river. There will be food being grilled all day long available for all that attend.
There will be rods available for casting from: Thomas & Thomas, SAGE, R.B. Meiser, Scott, R.L. Winston, Hardy, Cortland, CND, G.Loomis, Guideline, Echo, & Temple Fork Outfitters…
The following companies will have reels available for anyone who is interested to check out. These reels will have lines on them and will be used on the rods mentioned above: Nautilus, Galvan, Hardy, & Guideline…
We will have a ton of lines on hand so you can try out the type of line you are interested in, on the rod you plan to be using: Rio, Guideline, CND, Scientific Anglers, Cortland, Hardy, and Airflo will have many lines available…
Throughout the day we will have a few demonstrations being done to help beginners learn the ropes of spey casting and more advanced casters brush up on their casting skills.
Jeff Hire will be doing a basics of spey casting demonstration earlier in the morning.
Peter Humphrey's will be following up that demonstration with an intermediate/advanced spey casting demonstration, along with an underhand/scandanavian casting demonstration.
Will Turek will be giving a demonstration on skagit casting and single hand spey casting techniques.
There will be door prizes provided by Poppy at
www.redshedflyshop.com Thanks Poppy!
I will have a surplus of Sunline fluorocarbon to throw in for door prizes as well.
Poppy has thrown in a bunch of lines, DVD's and the ECHO spey rod of your choice as door prizes...
As an added bonus the St. Joseph River will still have winter steelhead lurking along with some fresh and very aggressive summer steelhead. Hopefully many of you will be able to enjoy what the Joe has to offer throughout the weekend and get out and do some fishing as well.
