Getting ready for Big Fish 4 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 3
Starting to get my stuff packed and ready to go. I want to know what kind of rods people are using for chasing kings? I have an Orivs 9' 6" 8wt and a St Crois 13' 6" 8wt spey. List what you take out.

Take care,

For chuck & duck my rods of choice are a 9' 9wt,either a St.Croix Avid or the new Reign series. This is only my 2nd year fishing with the Reign but it has not let me or my clients down yet! I have been salmon fishing with the Avid rods since the mid 90's, and I have never broke a rod on a fish yet!( it's always been something stupid like a car door or window) The Avid series rods have been bullet proof and the Reign is well on its way to getting the same endorsement from me. You get a rod that will forgive your mistakes but yet they have more than enough back bone to get the job done! With the performance you get you would expect to pay hundreds more,( Sage Scott , Orvis) Remember the fish don't care how much you spend to get there or how good you look with your rod in your hand, the end result is you got them to the net!

Well I'll be lookin' for your flag ship on the PM this fall.

Good luck & good fishing
David
