Spent the past 4 days up at the cabin doing some fishing. Slow is an understatement to describe the action right now. Started out saterday spending a couple hours stripping streamers below the dam by the cabin to see if I could gain the intrest of a late season pike or smallie but was not to be.
Although the fish didnt cooperate, you cant help but enjoy Northern Michigan in the fall. Its like fishing in a painting and you cant help but be amazed at what God has put around us.
Sunday was spent fishing for salmon & steelhead on the lower Au Sable. Walked about 2 miles of river and only saw a handful of salmon over a 6 hr period, but still, gotta enjoy the surroundings!
My newest toy, a Galvan Torque T8...What a dream to use, I think I have a new favorite reel!
Monday the weather for surf fishing was perfect. Cold, rainy and a slight wind coming in to the river mouth. But after about 3 hrs of cast cast cast cast cast...the fish simply were not around on that day, such is surf fishing. Althought this little guy kept me company all day long and at one point even tried to get into my stripping basket when I sat it down <_< He was comin right up to me where I could pat him on the head numerous times. I named him Norman...why? I dont know
Action should pick up in a couple weeks when the steelies start coming in and some lakers start milling around the river mouths.
